Rib Rub Recipes You Can Use

Rib rub recipes are absolutely essential to good smoke cooking.

I have listed some free ones here that are pretty decent however if you want the bomb then you have to try my very own competition style rib rub recipe. My rub will take you from ordinary to the best in town and you will know that because everyone will tell you so. Trust me.. I hear it every day!

If you have not read the barbecue rubs page please do so to get some tips and hints on proper application and usage as well as some advice on experimenting with your very own recipes.

These are some decent rib rub recipes and can also be used on brisket, chicken, chops, boston butts, etc..

Here are the free ones:

 

Memphis Style Rib Rub

4 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
1 teaspoons cayenne
Mix ingredients together. Store in an airtight container. Spread evenly on prepared ribs that have been patted dry and let sit until the rub appears moist.

Porkers Rib Rub

2 cups paprika
3/4 cup lemon pepper
1/4 cup coarse ground black pepper
1/4 cup white pepper
1/4 cup onion salt
1/4 cup granulated garlic
1/4 cup chili powder
3/4 cup brown sugar
Mix all ingredients and store in an air tight container.

Don't Wipe Your Eyes Rub

1/2 cup paprika
1/4 cup black pepper
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons salt
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons onion powder
1 tablespoon cayenne
Mix thoroughly and store in a cool, dry place.

Best Rib Rub

1/3 cup paprika
3 tablespoons dry mustard
2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons ground basil
2 tablespoons red pepper
1 tablespoon black pepper

Combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container. When applying to ribs, coat heavily and massage into the meat. If you want to make a sweet rub add 1/4 tablepoon of brown sugar.
