This is a recipe that I created just a few years ago in an effort to create a sugar-free rub that tasted great on everything.

Once again, it's common ingredients, no sugar and is great on everything, especially beef and seafood.

Some folks even use it as a table seasoning right along with the salt and pepper shaker.. it's that good!

The Original Barbecue Sauce Recipe

This barbecue sauce recipe is tomato based, a perfect balance of sweet and spicy and while it's naturally thick, it's easy to thin out with a little beer, apple juice or even water if you like a thinner consistency.

The sauce is made in a sauce pan over low heat using common ingredients but only takes about 10-15 minutes and most of that time is to allow the sauce to simmer so the flavors can combine. You are going to LOVE this barbecue sauce!

Are the digital recipes included in Jeff's book (“Smoking Meat: The Essential Guide to Real Barbecue”)?

The recipes are not included in the book since so many people purchased the recipes prior to the book being published, however, if you own the book and want to purchase the recipes, simply send proof of purchase (invoice, picture of you holding it, etc) to [email protected] and I will send you a coupon code good for a 20% discount.

A Little History

I developed these recipes in the early 2000's after getting tired of the tasteless, half-hearted stuff I was finding in the grocery store and supermarket.

I worked like a mad scientist on these rub and sauce recipes for several years in an effort to create formulas that were tasty and would add a lot of flavor to the meat I was cooking without overpowering it.

I added a smidgen of this and a dash of that until they became PERFECT!

I have tested these recipes on people from just about everywhere–Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Kansas City, and even across the globe, and I always get the same response:

    I bought your recipes last month and immediately bought a brisket to work with. My wife is not a big fan of smoked meat (just wrong) so I prepared it with your rub and put it in a slow oven (250). 7 hours later, I pulled it and wrapped tightly in foil and towels. Another hour and I opened it up. OMG! What a beautiful looking piece of meat. I made a gravy/sauce out of the drippings and ladled it over the meat and mashed potatoes. Super delicious. We had some leftovers and I pulled it and mixed your BBQ sauce for sandwiches the next day. Straight from the recipe, it had a gentle heat and we now keep a bottle in the fridge for hamburgers, chicken, pork chops…it replaced the ketchup bottle. Now I wish I would have bought this years ago. Thank you for working these recipes. To everyone sitting on the fence…buy the recipes and start enjoying your cooking.

    This past weekend I received the best compliment a person could ask for. My brother lived in KC MO for quite some time and is a self proclaimed BBQ fanatic. I used Jeff’s rub on some baby backs for Labor Day and sauced them with Jeff’s sauce. I invited my brother since he has never had my ribs and everyone raves about them. He told me the ribs were the best he has EVER had. For him to say that, is amazing as he and I never give each other a compliment. I couldn’t be any more happy with the rub and the sauce.     If anyone is on the fence regarding Jeff’s rub and sauce recipes, I highly recommend them. These are flavorful, easy to make and definitely not salty. Sure I have used other rubs and sauces, some commercial and some “local craft fair”. I always come back to these and consider them my go to when planning a session. They are crowd pleasers amongst even the pickiest eaters.
